Brief historical background, collections and exhibitions of the museum
The "Legenda" Art and Ethnographic Park (formerly known as "Legends and Fairy Tales of Altai") was created in the village of Polevodka, Biysky District, Altai Krai. It is a joint project of the Biysky District administration and the public organization "Union of National Cultures of Altai."
Conception Idea:
The idea for the park arose after the "Street of Masters" exhibition in Srostki in 2012. Sculptor Sergey Zaytsev installed his park design works along the highway and saw great public interest in them. This gave rise to the idea of creating an original ethno-park in Polevodka. Zaytsev came up with a suitable name – "Legends and Fairy Tales of Altai."
Implementation:
On July 8, 2013, a festival of park sculpture and territorial design was launched. Wood craftsmen from various Russian cities (Moscow and Moscow Oblast, Barnaul, Perm, Ulyanovsk, Khabarovsk, and Biysky District) spent 12 days carving 19 figures and compositions from huge cedars brought from the Altai Mountains. Each sculpture was accompanied by a legend.
On May 25, 2014, the "Altai. History of Russia" panorama museum opened its doors to visitors in the village of Polevodka, Biysky District. The implementation was made possible through the assistance of the Biysky District administration and the financial support of the Governor of Altai Krai, Alexander Bogdanovich Karlin.
The park consists of several museum compositions. Some of them include:
- Panorama Museum of the Small Indigenous Peoples of Altai: built in the shape of a yurt, the foreground features household items, clothing, stuffed animals, and the shaman's essential attribute – a tambourine.
- Ethno-village: here you will find a rustic-style gazebo, a well with a roof canopy, and other structures.
- The Golden Baba Idol: according to legend, she is the mother of all living things, the patroness of newborns, and the goddess of fertility, wealth, and destiny.
