Brief historical background, collections and exhibitions of the museum
The museum opened in 2012. Visitors will learn about concepts like "domostroy" (a 16th-century Russian set of household rules) and "marriage search," and will be introduced to the rituals of urban, "Komsomol" (Young Communist League), and "student brigade" weddings, as well as wedding and marriage ceremonies.
The "Museum of Wedding, Family and Childhood" invites donors to replenish its collections with bridal and groom's attire, invitation and congratulatory cards, rushnyks (ritual cloths), decorations, documents, and wedding photographs. Each exhibit will be labeled with the donor's surname.
The museum's exhibition consists of several sections that feature old and modern wedding dresses, accessories, postcards, photographs, documents, and household items that a girl would receive as a dowry.
