Brief historical background, collections and exhibitions of the museum
Branch of the Anokhin National Museum in Zhana-Aul village, "Kosh-Agachsky District" municipality. Opened on July 31, 1999, during the Small Kurultai of the Kazakhs of the Altai Republic, at the initiative of Auelkhan Zhazitovich Dzhatkambaev, chairman of the Kalinin collective farm. On the same day, a monument to the victims of the 1930s repressions was unveiled. The original name was the Museum of the Kazakhs of the Chui Steppe.
The collections and exhibitions feature more than 2,000 items from the main fund: natural science, ethnographic, and numismatic collections, decorative and applied arts, and photographic and documentary materials. The most attractive part of the museum's exhibition is the yurt, which recreates the interior of a portable nomadic dwelling of the Kazakhs with decorative and applied art items: tuskiiz (wall carpets), syrmak (felt carpets), and household utensils made of leather and wood.
