Brief historical background, collections and exhibitions of the museum

The museum was opened in 1965 and is located in a two-story building with an exhibition area of 187 sq. m. It is a local lore museum, and its expositions reflect the history of the development of the district and the urban-type settlement of Blagoveshchenka from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day.

The principle of constructing the expositions is chronological, which is convenient for information perception.

  • The first hall – "History of the settlement of the district, life and customs of the first settlers": wooden shelves with household utensils, the hall's decoration (homespun rugs, towels, icons) contribute to a deeper immersion into the atmosphere of peasant life.
  • The "Military-Historical" hall: the general plan alternates with memorial complexes and other specific sections: expositions and stands with photographs of participants in the Great Patriotic War, expositions dedicated to the Civil War, local conflicts, a display case with weapons, medals, and no less valuable frontline letters.
  • The hall of "Socio-economic development of the district in the Soviet and modern periods": the themes of the exposition complexes fit well with: basic information and photographs of the city-forming enterprises and organizations, social spheres of the district, an exposition dedicated to the Virgin Lands campaign.
  • The "Nature" department: shows the nature of the Kulunda Steppe. A stand with medicinal plants is arranged. Display cases contain stuffed roe deer, foxes, partridges, black grouses, buzzards, gophers, and ducks. All expositions in the nature hall are accompanied by scientific and auxiliary materials: maps, diagrams, explanatory text, and labels.
