Brief historical background, collections and exhibitions of the museum
The Zarinsky Inter-settlement Museum of Local Lore was opened on November 4, 1978. Its history began in the 1960s, when participants of the Civil and Great Patriotic Wars, led by Makar Mironovich Tokarev, began collecting material about military events. Tokarev was a participant in three wars. Simultaneously, a "Red Pathfinders" club was opened at the Sorokinskaya secondary school, which also collected material for the museum under the guidance of Evgeny Semenovich Nazarov.
For eight years, the museum was headed by E.S. Nazarov, one of the museum's founders. The museum operated on a voluntary basis. In 1984, it was awarded the title of "people's museum," and from 1987 to May 1, 1991, it was a branch of the Altai Regional Museum of Local Lore.
Today, the museum has registered over sixteen thousand items and documents that reflect the historical development of the Zarinsky district and the city of Zarinsk in various fields.
The following permanent expositions are open to visitors:
- "Center of Russian Folk Culture" (opened in 2014)
- "Hall of Nature and Archaeology"
- "Life of the Peasants of the Prichumyshye Region"
- "Hall of Military Glory"
- "Soldier's Dugout"
- "Hall of the History of the Soviet Period"
- "Gallery of Impressions"
- "Lines of History"
There is also a hall for traveling exhibitions, the themes of which change 5–6 times a year.
