Brief historical background, collections and exhibitions of the museum
The official opening of the Zalesovsky District Museum of Local Lore took place on May 1, 1982, but the collection of the museum fund began much earlier, in the 1970s. Initially, the museum had the status of "people's museum."
For many years, the museum staff has been working on a database of veterans of the Great Patriotic War from the Zalesovsky district of the Altai Krai.
Today, the museum's collection numbers over 13,000 items. The museum has formed collections of: ethnography, numismatics, bonistics, photographs, printed documents, postage stamps, technical items, household items, religious items, archaeological items, and mineralogical items.
The exhibition is displayed in the following halls:
- "Old Way of Life": unique exhibits from the 18th–20th centuries of various population groups who lived in the Zalesovsky district: old-timers, settlers, Mordvins, Germans.
- "Military Glory"
- "Nature Corner"
- Hall of temporary exhibitions
- Center of Traditional Mordovian Folk Culture "Our Little Mordovia" (opened on December 26, 2012)
