Brief historical background, collections and exhibitions of the museum
The Kulundinsky District Museum was opened in the early 1980s. Historical material was collected and presented in a temporary exhibition hall at the "Kulunda" cinema. The turbulent times of the 1990s nullified all previous efforts to create such an important institution. It was only in 1998 that the culture committee returned to the issue of creating a museum. In 2003, the district museum of local lore received its own building and was opened to the public.
The museum's exposition "Kulundinsky District: History and Modernity" reflects the history of the emergence and development of the Kulundinsky district. The exposition is divided into the following sections:
- "Ethnographic" – reveals the values of folk cultural traditions;
- "Nature of Kulunda. Nature of Altai" – features taxidermy of animals and birds, herbariums of local flora, photographic material about the district's flora, useful minerals, and minerals;
- "The Resettlement Movement" – tells the story of the first settlers of the district's villages through documents, memoirs, and photographs;
- "The Establishment of Soviet Power" and "Scorched by War" – reflect the history of the establishment of Soviet power in the district and the contribution of fellow countrymen to the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945;
- "The Virgin Lands Epic" – this section is represented by materials about the first virgin land developers of the district, who created the new Order of Lenin state farm "Kulundinsky."
