Brief historical background, collections and exhibitions of the museum

The Krasnoshchyokovsky Museum of History and Local Lore was established by the decision of the bureau of the district party committee on July 24, 1979. This was largely due to the efforts of Pyotr Ivanovich Bestuzhev, the first secretary of the district party committee.

It all began with a room of military and labor glory at KSSH No. 1. Materials and exhibits were collected in a small room in the House of Pioneers (today, a branch of Sberbank is located in this building). In October 1974, a decision was made to transfer the military enlistment office building to the museum, where it is located to this day.

Speaking of the museum, one cannot fail to mention the person who invested enormous effort in its creation and development. The first director and the soul of the museum was Maria Gavrilovna Terekhova. She did a tremendous job, trying to piece together the history of our district bit by bit: she worked in the regional museum and archives, corresponded with famous countrymen and ordinary residents, reconstructing the entire historical path of the Krasnoshchyokovsky district. Through her efforts, the museum's exposition was created in the form we see it today. Maria Gavrilovna was assisted in her work by the librarian N.I. Tokareva, the head of the agitation and propaganda department of the district party committee G.I. Grudnova, as well as the heads of farms, party committee secretaries, chairmen of local organizations and institutions, and teachers of secondary schools in the district.

After her retirement (1984), Maria Gavrilovna's work was continued by O.D. Roshchupkina, L.G. Solopova, L.P. Afanasyeva, and others.

Despite the difficulties that arose, the number of exhibits constantly increased, and the museum's fund was replenished with documents, photographs, and household items, which today total more than a thousand units.
