Brief historical background, collections and exhibitions of the museum
The Burlinsky District Museum of Local Lore opened its doors to visitors in December 1991. The art gallery was the museum's first exposition.
The uniqueness of the museum lies in the fact that the collected material reflects the development of the villages of the Kulunda Steppe, as well as its unique lakes. The significance of the collections is that they tell the history not only of the district and the region, but also of the adjacent territories – the Novosibirsk Oblast and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The building has 4 halls (nature, ethnographic, exhibition, and military). Today, the collection numbers about 6,000 items. This collection was formed thanks to many people who sought to preserve for posterity the valuable things created by our ancestors throughout its long history.
The museum's ethnographic collection includes household items of settlers from various provinces of Ukraine. The archaeological collection reflects the sociogenesis of ancient traditional societies of Altai. Many items date back to the Bronze Age. The pride of the museum is its documentary fund, which is represented by authentic documents: documents of settlers, documents about the participation of district residents in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945, as well as the wars in Afghanistan and Chechnya.
